Luis Campos was spotted in London over the weekend as Arsenal push to convince him to leave PSG to become their sporting director, according to a report.
Alexis Bernard reports for Le10Sport that PSG football advisor Luis Campos was spotted in London on Saturday, with several fans and Le10Sport sources confirming he was in the English capital.
Bernard writes that Campos has been on the radar of both Chelsea and Arsenal for many months now, with Chelsea pushing to make him their CEO of football.
As for the Gunners, Arsenal want Campos to leave PSG for a more traditional sporting director role, as they search for a long-term replacement for Edu Gaspar.
Mikel Arteta was asked about Arsenal’s sporting director search in his press conference on Tuesday, though he didn’t give much away.
“That’s a question for the club, they are in a position to give better answers in terms of timing and selection than I am,” Arteta said.
“Our plan is to nail the process that we believe is the best to try to find the person that is the best one for the moment that Arsenal is in right now. That’s what the club is trying to do.”
Arsenal have been linked with Campos as one potential Edu replacement for a while now, with Sky Sports News reporting in November that he’s a strong target for the Gunners.
At the time, the search was still in the early stages, with a lot of other names in contention.
But Campos has a lot of experience as a sporting director, particularly in France, having worked for AS Monaco and Lille before linking up with PSG.
During those spells, Campos signed the likes of Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe, Victor Osimhen, Rafael Leao, and former Gunner Nicolas Pepe.
