Lennon Patterson has confirmed his departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers following a recent trial with the Arsenal youth teams.

Wolves youngster Lennon Patterson officially announced his exit from the club on social media on Thursday, writing: “After 8 years at Wolves, it’s time for me to move on and take the next step in my career.
“I want to thank the players, the staff and anyone else who has helped me throughout my journey here. I wish the best for all of my teammates and I hope you all do well in the future.”
The situation is one to watch for Arsenal fans, with the player recently spending time on a trial with the Gunners.

Reports in December suggested Arsenal were in talks with Wolves over a transfer, with Patterson having represented the club on a trial basis in an u21 fixture against Sunderland.
Patterson spent time with the Arsenal senior squad a few times in December, having also played for Brighton on another trial in October.
The interest from Brighton means there’s still a chance Patterson ends up elsewhere after leaving Wolves, but Arsenal certainly appear to be the favourites at the time of writing.

Before his trial appearances, Patterson had made around 30 appearances for Wolves’ u18s, dating back to his debut at that level in April 2022.
But the defender is still waiting for his first chance with the Wolves u21s two -and-a-half years later, which is perhaps part of the reason why he’s now moving on.
Brayden Clarke made the same switch from Wolves last year, and we should soon find out whether Patterson is following in his footsteps.
