Kim Little returns after surgery as Arsenal thrash Tottenham

Kim Little returned to the Arsenal squad after recovering from surgery on her hand as the team demolished Tottenham 5-0 at the Emirates on Sunday.

At the end of January, Arsenal manager Renee Slegers confirmed that Little had played the games against Chelsea and Brighton with a broken finger.

“Kim Little had to do surgery on her hand. She broke her finger against Crystal Palace,” Slegers said on 31 January.

“For long-term help she needed to do that, so she did surgery and it was successful.”

After missing the 5-0 win over Bristol City in the FA Cup, the 3-4 win over City, the 1-2 defeat and the 2-0 win over London City Lionesses, the Arsenal captain was named on the bench against Spurs. She came on in the 76th minute with Arsenal already 4-0 up.

Victoria Pelova, still regaining fitness as she returns from an ACL picked up in the summer, was not included in the squad.

Lina Hurtig (muscular), who has been out since 19 January, also remains absent.

Rosa Kafaji was also missing from the squad after picking up a problem there doesn’t seem to be much information about.

Arsenal delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over Tottenham in the North London Derby, dominating in front of over 56,000 fans at the Emirates Stadium.

Alessia Russo starred with a brace, continuing her fine form against Spurs, while Mariona Caldentey, Frida Maanum, and Emily Fox completed the rout.

Fox’s long-range stunner marked her first ever WSL goal in style.

Chloe Kelly’s return to Arsenal was another highlight, with the winger making her first appearance for the club since 2017. Though she didn’t score, she was lively and nearly created a special moment late on when she clipped the bar.

Tottenham struggled to match Arsenal’s intensity, barely troubling Daphne van Domselaar, though Beth England forced a rare save in the second half.

The visitors attempted to press high but were punished repeatedly, especially for Russo’s second goal, which came from a turnover, and were lucky it was only five.

Despite a brighter second half from Spurs, the Gunners’ quality proved overwhelming.

Sadly, after the game, it was confirmed that Lotte Wubben-Moy has picked up a muscular injury and will require a scan on Monday. You can keep up to date on future updates here.
