Barcelona are keen on Alexander Isak and have already made enquiries with the player’s representatives, but they’re being priced out of a move.

Arsenal are clearly keen on signing Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak this summer, but the prospect of a move appears to hinge on a number of factors beyond the Gunners’ control.
One of those factors is which other clubs will be in the mix, with Toni Juanmarti reporting for Spanish outlet Sport that Barcelona are interested in Isak.
According to the report, Barcelona have already made some moves with Isak’s entourage, albeit informally, confirming that he would be interested in joining the club.

Yet Juanmarti adds that Isak’s openness to a Barcelona move won’t be enough. Newcastle want more than €100m for Isak, a figure Arsenal are more likely to meet than Barcelona.
Barcelona made first contact over Isak at the end of 2024, and they haven’t followed up on it in the months since then. Given their financial situation, they know they’re incapable of making significant progress on a deal.
But if Barcelona made a major sale and raised some funds in the summer window, Isak would be their priority signing.

Isak has 19 goals and five assists in 28 games for Newcastle United this season, and he has a history in La Liga with Real Sociedad. Newcastle are very keen to keep him, but he could push for a move if they miss out on European football.
Eddie Howe’s side sit sixth in the Premier League table, with the top five likely to qualify for the Champions League next season.
