Chelsea youngster Marcell Washington is continuing his trial with Arsenal, almost three weeks on from his appearance for the Gunners’ u21 side.

Earlier this month, Chelsea 17-year-old Marcell Washington was confirmed to be on a trial with Arsenal when he started for the u21s against West Ham United.
The u16 England international was used as a left-back on the day, but he’s also capable of playing on the left wing.
Arsenal lost the game 1-0, and Washington played 79 minutes of the match. He was ultimately withdrawn for a more obvious attacking option in Andre Harriman-Annous, as the Gunners chased a result.

Washington hasn’t appeared in another Arsenal youth fixture since then, but his trial period is evidently continuing. Jeorge Bird reports for Arsenal Youth that Washington joined the Gunners in first-team training on Tuesday.
With Henry Jeffcott leaving last summer and Myles Lewis-Skelly stepping up to the first team, Arsenal evidently feel they have a gap to fill in the youth teams at left-back.
The club took Lennon Patterson on a trial from Wolves and held talks over his signing, but the defender ended up joining Sheffield United instead. That seemingly prompted Arsenal’s move to give Washington a trial.

Washington had made four appearances for the Chelsea u18s this season before getting a chance at Arsenal, having made his debut at that level last April.
