Celtic have confirmed the impending signing of Kieran Tierney on a free transfer this summer, with the player departing Arsenal on the expiry of his current contract.

Whilst it was never really a secret, Celtic provided the official confirmation on Monday that they will be signing Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window.
Writing on their club website in their Interim Report, Celtic confirmed that during the January transfer window they entered into a pre-contract agreement that will see Tierney return to Celtic in July 2025.
Reports suggest the Scotland international will sign a four-year deal back with his old club once his Arsenal contract expires at the end of June.
Arsenal did have an option to extend Tierney’s contract to 2026, but the deadline to activate that option has long passed.

There were a whole host of clubs interested in signing Tierney on a free transfer this summer, including Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, and Juventus.
In the Premier League, Everton also showed an interest. But Tierney is closing in on a return to his old club instead.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers had reportedly been hoping to agree a loan for Tierney until that summer move, but Arsenal made it clear that the left-back is staying for the rest of the season.

The defender has made five appearances for Arsenal this season, returning from a serious hamstring injury in late November. He’s been a regular off the bench recently, and could be set for more minutes in light of Gabriel Martinelli’s injury and the club’s current lack of wide options.
Minutes at left-back could be at a premium, with Myles Lewis-Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori, and Oleksandr Zinchenko all competing for the same spot. But Tierney’s ability to play at centre-back or even on the wing could see him involved a few more times before his Celtic transfer.
