Arsenal have added another name to their shortlist of potential sporting director targets, looking at Andrea Berta after his departure from Atletico Madrid.

Relevo report that former Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta is on Arsenal’s list of candidates to replace Edu Gaspar this summer.
Reporter Edu Garcia initially told Onda Cero that Berta was close to taking on the sporting director role at Arsenal, and Relevo report that they’ve confirmed the 53-year-old is one of the favourites for the job.
Berta left Atletico in January, after a 12-year spell with the club, so he’s currently available for Arsenal to pick him up.
Though Relevo add that there are still other names in the mix, including Roberto Olabe of Real Sociedad.

There’s also been talk about Luis Campos of PSG, amid reports that the Portuguese executive was spotted in London over the weekend.
Alexis Bernard wrote for Le10Sport this week that Campos has been on the radar of both Chelsea and Arsenal for many months now, with Chelsea pushing to make him their CEO of football.
As for the Gunners, Arsenal want Campos to leave PSG for a more traditional sporting director role.

Mikel Arteta was asked about Arsenal’s sporting director search in his press conference on Tuesday, though he didn’t give much away.
“That’s a question for the club, they are in a position to give better answers in terms of timing and selection than I am,” Arteta said.
“Our plan is to nail the process that we believe is the best to try to find the person that is the best one for the moment that Arsenal is in right now. That’s what the club is trying to do.”
