Arsenal never made an official bid for Matheus Cunha in the January transfer window, but the Wolves player will have a release clause this summer, according to a report.

Arsenal have been regularly linked with a move for Matheus Cunha over the last few months, but a late January deal for the player has never looked likely.
Fabrizio Romano confirms on his YouTube channel that the Gunners never actually made any move this month, despite being in talks with Cunha’s camp before the window opened.
Yet a move could still happen later this year, as Cunha’s new deal will have a release clause in it.
“Matheus Cunha will be a name for the summer because there is a release clause active from June in his new contract,” Romano explained. “Arsenal had been in talks with his camp around November, December – but then in January, they never presented an official bid.”

It may not have mattered even if Arsenal have formalised their interest this month, with various reports suggesting that Wolves have no plans to sell Cunha this month.
Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, and Manchester United all have varying degrees of interest in Cunha as well. But Wolves have always insisted he’s not for sale and they haven’t even received a formal offer for him.
Cunha has seemingly been delaying on signing his new contract with Wolves in the hope that he might get a big January transfer, but it seems he’s set to see out the season with his current club.

Cunha has 11 goals and four assists for relegation-battling Wolves this season, most recently securing a win over Aston Villa with an injury-time settler.
