PSG set stance on Arsenal January transfer target

Paris Saint-Germain have no plans to let Lee Kang-in leave in the January transfer window, despite reports of interest from Arsenal and others.

Following links between PSG’s Lee Kang-in and Arsenal in recent days, Ben Jacobs reported on Tuesday that whilst it’s true the Gunners appreciate the South Korean winger, PSG have no plans to sanction an exit.

Jacobs added that Arsenal haven’t actually made contact with PSG to begin with, but if they did formalise an offer the Ligue 1 club would reject it.

Fabrizio Romano confirms that despite interest from two Premier League clubs, PSG aren’t considering a departure for the 23-year-old. He’s highly rated by his current club, and their position is clear.

James McNicholas had reported for The Athletic that Lee could be under discussion at Arsenal, as the Gunners like the forward and he is open to a new challenge.

The report suggested that Lee is considering his options at PSG, though Arsenal were unlikely to want to pay what PSG would ask.

As it turns out, the asking price doesn’t seem to matter. Whatever Arsenal offer, a deal isn’t on the table this month.

Lee has been in and out of the PSG lineup this season. He’s made nine league starts versus seven substitute appearances, and three Champions League starts versus three substitute appearances, so perhaps a move to a club where he’d start more regularly could be appealing.

Having said that, the winger hasn’t missed a single game in all competitions this season. He might not always be in the starting lineup, but he’s always involved at some stage.

With six goals and two assists, Lee is averaging a goal contribution every 171 minutes.
