Arsenal are hopeful of winning the race to sign Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg, with a decision on the midfielder’s future expected within days.

Ed Aarons reports for The Guardian that Arsenal are hopeful of beating Girona, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Sverre Nypan, after holding further talks with the player in London.
Aarons reports that Nypan is close to making a decision on his future, with City Football Group club Girona also pushing hard for his signature. Their pitch will undoubtedly involve the possibility of a later move to Manchester City.
The report adds that Nypan would cost around £10m upfront, with significant add-ons likely as well.

Miguel Delaney writes in the Independent that Arsenal are leading the race for Nypan, with talks ramping up over the weekend. Whilst he also mentions Villa and Girona’s interest, the reporter adds that it’s understood there’s been progress with Arsenal in recent days.
James McNicholas adds for The Athletic that Nypan is expected to decide on his future before Monday’s transfer deadline, with Arsenal offering to make him a part of their first-team squad immediately.
For the time being, Nypan has returned to Norway. Arsenal feel they’re well positioned to sign him, but the situation remains open and there could be a late twist.

18-year-old Nypan scored eight goals and assisted 10 from midfield with Rosenborg in 2024, with their season coming to an end in December.
The youngster also made his debut for the Norway u21s in September, a quick jump up the ranks after debuting for their u19s earlier the same year.
It seems Arsenal can now only wait like the rest of us for the player to announce his decision.
