Gabriel Jesus has been nominated for the EFL’s League Cup Player of the Round, following his hat-trick for Arsenal against Crystal Palace last week.

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus is one of four nominees for the League Cup Player of the Round award following the quarter-final fixtures last week, joining Tottenham Hotspur’s Dominic Solanke, Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali in the running.
Jesus scored a hat-trick against Palace in Arsenal’s 3-2 win, proving the difference between the two sides and helping the Gunners into a final-four tie against Newcastle United.
The voting is currently open here, but it closes at 17:00 GMT on Thursday, December 26th, so make sure to get your vote in quickly.

At least when it comes to goal contributions, Jesus has the edge over his competitors for the award.
Tonali scored twice for Newcastle against Brentford, Solanke also bagged a brace for Spurs against Manchester United, and Elliott scored once for Liverpool away to Southampton. None of the three can match Jesus’ hat-trick.
Whether that’s enough to see Jesus winning the award remains to be seen, though it was certainly a huge boost for him as an individual.

A few days later, Jesus bagged a couple of goals for Arsenal against the same opposition in a Premier League game at Selhurst Park, boosting his season tally from one to six in a matter of days.
Those two performances may well have won Jesus a spot back in Arsenal’s starting lineup, and we’ll get our next hint over whether that’s the case when Mikel Arteta’s side play Ipswich Town on Friday, December 27th at 20:15 GMT.
