Arsenal may receive enquiries and bids for Leandro Trossard in the January transfer window, but the Gunners are keen to keep the forward at the club for the second half of the season.
James McNicholas reports for The Athletic that Arsenal may field interest in Leandro Trossard in the January window, after Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad made a deadline-day bid over the summer.
But McNicholas adds that potential suitors for Trossard are likely to get the same response in January that Al-Ittihad received on deadline day.
Trossard remains an important part of Mikel Arteta’s plans, and the club don’t intend to sell in the winter window.
Arsenal have shown their commitment to Trossard recently by opening talks with the player over a new contract, offering a significant pay rise.
Trossard signed a three-and-a-half-year deal in January 2023 worth £90,000-a-week, but a new contract would send that wage into six figures.
The Gunners are reportedly keen to reward the Belgian for his performances, particularly given they’ve turned down the option for him to leave.
Trossard can’t complain about his minutes at Arsenal this season so far, playing 24 times and making 14 starts. Those numbers are only likely to increase over the next couple of months, with Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling currently absent through injury.
Those injuries will be another factor encouraging Arsenal to turn down any winter interest in Trossard. It looks highly likely he’ll still be playing in north London come February.
