New reports have confirmed that Arsenal are interested in Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, but the January window remains an unlikely time for the player to move.

Following similar reports earlier in the week, Mike McGrath reports for The Telegraph that Arsenal indeed hold an interest in Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, though they would struggle to sign him in the January transfer window.
McGrath reports that Arsenal’s pursuit of Cunha pre-dates the recent injuries to Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling, with the Gunners watching him over the last three seasons.
But with Wolves fighting relegation, they are thought to be “extremely reluctant” to let such a key player leave in the winter window.

Cunha has two-and-a-half seasons left on his contract, and Wolves want him to commit for even longer, but they’re braced for further bids in the coming windows.
If the 25-year-old doesn’t sign a new deal and has just two years on his contract in the summer, Wolves might be more likely to sell at that point.
In the meantime, Cunha is continuing to perform for his current club, scoring one and assisting one for Wolves against Manchester United on Thursday. That puts him at 14 goal contributions for the season in just 18 Premier League games.

James McNicholas of The Athletic had broken the news of Arsenal’s interest in Cunha, writing that the Gunners are long-term admirers. Though he added that the club are also still interested in Benjamin Sesko and Nico Williams as additions in forward areas.
Cunha took time to take photos with Arsenal fans after Wolves’ defeat to the Gunners in August.
“Even though you’re upset, having lost the game, to receive affections from fans of the opponent impacts you and it’s really nice,” Cunha said. “It’s really nice to have this recognition even though it’s not the club you play for.”
