Arsenal consider move for PSG chief as Edu replacement

Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Campos is among the names under consideration by Arsenal as a replacement for Edu Gaspar, according to a report.

Sky Sports News report that PSG football advisor Luis Campos is a strong target for Arsenal as a replacement for Edu Gaspar, in part because Campos’ current contract with PSG runs out in the summer.

The report adds that Arsenal’s search for an Edu replacement is at an early stage, with the club still figuring out exactly what kind of sporting director they’ll look to hire.

But Campos is evidently in the mix, along with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen’s Simon Rolfes and Real Sociedad’s Roberto Olabe.

Campos has a lot of experience as a sporting director, particularly in France, having worked for AS Monaco and Lille before linking up with PSG.

During those spells, Campos signed the likes of Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe, Victor Osimhen, Rafael Leao, and former Gunner Nicolas Pepe.

Yet perhaps only that spell at Lille is really comparable to the task Campos would have at Arsenal, with 2013 Monaco and present-day PSG having near unlimited budgets compared to most other teams in the league.

Arsenal still have plenty of time to make a decision. Edu is serving six-months’ notice, Jason Ayto is filling in on an interim basis, and Campos isn’t available until next June – assuming he doesn’t extend his deal.
