Things have been frustrating for the Arsenal Women.
The Arsenal ladies have been struggling with inconsistency, and are looking to break their six-year drought and reclaim the WSL for the first time in ages. The Arsenal Women WSL quest begins by looking at what needs to improve.
Arsenal can position themselves as strong contenders for the league title, significantly improving their odds of winning and in the betting world. Fans wanting to understand sports betting odds can have a look online to make informed betting decisions and bet on WSL.
Strengthening the Defence. Team defence will need to be a focal point of the Arsenal Women 2024 campaign. Manchester City and Chelsea, who each had a 20+ goal scorer a season ago in Bunny Shaw and Sam Kerr, respectively, will present tough opponents that the defence has to be ready for.
Strengthening team defence will go a long way toward another Arsenal women’s WSL title. There are too many other talented players in the WSL for Arsenal to succeed without a strong team defence.
Improving Attacking Strategies. One of the first things the Arsenal Women 2024 team needs to address is scoring. No one on the team has achieved 20 or more goals since Vivianne Miedema did it all the way back in the 2018-19 season.
Last season, the Arsenal Women’s best players failed to come even close. Alessia Russo led the way with 12 goals, falling well short of the mark. Given that rivals are producing 20-goal scorers, the Arsenal Ladies have to find some balance on offence.
Improved Consistency. Perhaps the most frustrating part for the Arsenal women last season was the inconsistency. They ultimately finished 16-2-4, finishing third in the standings behind Chelsea and Man City. A big part of that had to do with inconsistent performances.
The Arsenal women’s best players need to be that time in and time out. There cannot be games where they can’t be found or there is little chance that the Arsenal women can capture the WSL crown in 2024-25.
Impact Players. Three names will garner the most attention. Russo led the way with 12 tallies and will be counted on to do more given that she was still finding her way with the club a season ago. Even getting to 15 or more goals would go a long way toward helping the team.
Beth Mead returned from injury and was still finding her stride as the season wore on. Hopefully, with a season under her belt, she can return better for 2024-25. There is also Stina Blackstenius, who initially began on the bench. She finished the campaign with seven goals, showing her natural goal-scoring ability in the end.
There are a lot of factors that need to come together for a championship run. If the Arsenal women’s best players can find a new level, it could put them over the top and at the top of the standings.
