One Arsenal fan made their feelings on Jonas Eidevall clear with graffiti on Hornsey Road following the team’s latest defeat to Chelsea.
The Arsenal Women have made a mixed start to the season, to put it politely, and Jonas Eidevall is starting to feel the pressure from supporters after a particularly disappointing week.
After a drab draw with Everton last Sunday, Arsenal travelled to Germany and were thrashed 5-2 by Bayern Munich. The team returned to the Emirates Stadium for another big game against Chelsea and they lost again, 2-1 this time.
Other than the draw with Everton and the defeat by Chelsea, the only other game the Arsenal Women have played at the Emirates Stadium was a draw with Manchester City.
Vivianne Miedema scored in that game, after Eidevall made the decision to let her leave Arsenal this summer.
Even before the Chelsea game, fans were already calling for Eidevall’s sacking. But those calls have only increased now, and one fan took it upon themselves to send a message to the club on Saturday night.
“Jonas out” was that message, graffitied in white paint on the wall on Hornsey Road, just steps away from the Emirates Stadium.
Eidevall signed a new contract just over a year ago, so it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be keen to act on his situation so soon. But that call wasn’t even particularly popular at the time, and the results certainly aren’t there right now.
