Cesc Fabregas has exposed a fake quote comparing Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer, calling on England fans to support both players.
After a Twitter user made up a quote from Cesc Fabregas comparing Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer, the former player himself stepped in to reveal the truth.
“The danger of social media is people really believe anything they read,” Fabregas wrote.
“No need to compare players, England are lucky to have 2 amazing talents, just enjoy them! #Fake!”
The original post (shown below) was quite obviously fake, as it didn’t sound like the kind of thing Fabregas would have said.
The inclusion of “EPL” was a particular giveaway, as few players to play in the Premier League refer to it in that way. You’re in England talking about English players at English clubs, why would you need to clarify that it’s the “English” Premier League?

As for the point in Fabregas’ tweet, England fans probably should just be grateful to have the two players, particularly given they’d likely both feature in the team’s best lineup.
It’s not a case of picking one or the other, they’re capable of playing together.
But on a club level, you’re never going to stop people comparing. That’s part of being a fan of a team in the modern era, believing your player is better than their counterpart at a rival club.
