Emile Smith Rowe has impressed in his new Premier League surroundings, scoring twice and providing an assist in his first seven games for Fulham.

While Arsenal hold a sell-on clause, any potential return for Smith Rowe would have to be negotiated without the advantage of a pre-arranged buy-back clause.

Emile Smith Rowe has impressed for Fulham since signing from Arsenal this summer, and he scored the second goal of his spell against Newcastle United.

The midfielder had also hit the bar earlier in the game as he helped Fulham to three wins and two draws from their opening six Premier League fixtures.

With two goals and an assist in his nine appearances (six starts) in all competitions, as well as converting in Fulham’s epic League Cup 17:16 penalty shootout against Preston North End, Smith Rowe is winning plenty of fans with his new club.

Given Smith Rowe’s form, some Arsenal fans might be asking whether the club have the option to bring the midfielder back. The question feels particularly pertinent right now, with the Gunners suffering from a number of midfield injuries.

But Football.London report that there’s no buy-back option in Smith Rowe’s deal with Fulham. If Arsenal ever do want to re-sign him in the future, they’d have to negotiate a deal like any other club.

On the other hand, Arsenal do have a sell-on clause reportedly worth 10%, so they’ll make a bit of extra cash if Fulham decide to sell.

Smith Rowe made 115 appearances for Arsenal and directly contributed to 31 goals.

He was a popular figure at the club, and he remains a fan favourite even following his departure.

But he needed a fresh start and a clean break, and the terms of his exit seem to have given him that.
