Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney has returned to individual training following his hamstring injury at Euro 2024, as he edges closer to a full recovery.
Kieran Tierney shared photos on his Instagram story on Wednesday to confirm that he’s back in individual training with Arsenal after injury.
The defender was absent from images of the group sessions over the last couple of days, but he could be seen back out running on the pitch at London Colney in Wednesday’s photos.
The last update we’d had on Tierney was in mid-August, when Mikel Arteta stated that he’d be out for “a few weeks”. It seems the Scotland international is now edging closer to a return.
Tierney spent last season on loan with Real Sociedad, and he’s been out of action since Euro 2024 with a hamstring injury, scrapping any initial hopes that he might be set for a permanent summer transfer.
When asked about a potential move in August, Arteta suggested Tierney can’t think about that until he’s fit, saying: “He needs to focus on recovering in the best possible way, it’s been a tough time for him again with the last injury.
“We have to try to support him and make sure he gets back fit.”
Arsenal have a very tricky run of games coming up, so if Tierney is going to return to Arteta’s starting lineup, it’s unlikely it will happen immediately.
In their next three matches, Arsenal play away from home in a north London derby, then play Atalanta away in the Champions League, followed by a trip to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
A more realistic potential return date would be the League Cup clash at home to Bolton Wanderers on September 25th.
