Arsenal’s Kai Havertz has spoken about his newfound confidence and physicality as he adapts to a more dynamic role on the pitch.
The 25-year-old German international has shown remarkable form both for club and country, particularly in his recent performances in the Nations League.
In an interview with Dresdner Morgenpost on 10 September 2024, Havertz revealed his current state of mind and physical condition. “I never thought at a young age that I could become such a player. I feel more confident, stronger and faster than before,” Havertz said. His statements reflect a significant shift in his game and personal confidence since his time at Chelsea.
Havertz’s new-found confidence was on full display during the Nations League opener against Hungary, where he played a pivotal role in Germany’s 5-0 victory. Nagelsmann praised Havertz’s development, highlighting the progress he has made in recent years. “Kai has made a big push in recent years. He has the potential to become a top player in many ways,” Nagelsmann noted.

Although he contributed significantly with a penalty goal, a header, and a brilliant shot that struck the crossbar, Nagelsmann pointed out areas for improvement. “There is an incredible amount of cleverness missing in some cases,” the coach observed.
Havertz, who had been trialled unsuccessfully as a left-back earlier in Nagelsmann’s tenure, has found a more suitable role behind the striker.
