Four Arsenal players have been nominated for the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or, with the nominees confirmed on Wednesday night.
The Ballon d’Or Twitter account shared their latest list of nominees for the 2024 award on Wednesday, with 30 names on the shortlist.
Among those names were four Arsenal players in Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, and William Saliba.
Former Gunners Granit Xhaka and Emi Martinez have also been nominated for the award.
The 2024 award is primarily based on performances in 2023/24, in which Saka scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists for Arsenal as they finished second in the Premier League table.
The winger also provided a goal and an assist at Euro 2024, starting every game in England’s run to the final.
Odegaard scored 11 and assisted 11 for Arsenal from midfield, and he coninued to captain Norway on an international level.
Rice had the best season of his club career in front of goal, scoring seven and assisting 10 despite his role being focused more on breaking up play. He was also involved throughout England’s run to the Euro 2024 final and assisted Saka in the quarter-finals.
Last but not least, Saliba helped Arsenal to maintain the best defensive record in the Premier League, playing 50 times for the Gunners, and he was one of the standout performers at Euro 2024.
The centre-back made the PFA Team of the Year and the Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament, and he’s fast gaining a reputation as the best defender around.
The award will be presented in a ceremony on October 28th, 2024.
