Arsenal could be set to earn more money from Emile Smith Rowe’s Fulham transfer in the future, with add-ons and a sell-on clause in the deal.

Fulham completed the signing of Arsenal academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe last week, with the Gunners receiving an initial £27m fee for the transfer.

On top of that guaranteed payment, the Gunners could also receive a further £7m in add-ons, with the add-on conditions considered “realistic” according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano adds that Arsenal also have a sell-on clause in the deal, which is worth “more than 10%” of a future sale.

The same journalist had previously reported that part of the reason Arsenal had accepted the Fulham bid was because of very good conditions on payment terms.

For Fulham to commit a club-record transfer fee with good payment terms, realistic add-ons, and a sell-on clause shows how far they were willing to go to get a deal done.

Manager Marco Silva was reportedly very keen to sign Smith Rowe ahead of other interested parties, and the club’s hierarchy made it happen.

It’s a deal where everyone can feel happy with how things turned out. Smith Rowe got the move he wanted to become a key player again, Fulham signed their priority target, and Arsenal ensured they got a good fee.

Smith Rowe only played 475 minutes for Arsenal last season across 19 appearances (four starts), and he has the talent to contribute a lot more in 2024/25 with his new club.
