Eddie Nketiah is among Bournemouth’s options for a Dominic Solanke replacement, with Marseille now definitely out of the race for the striker.
David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Eddie Nketiah is among the options Bournemouth are looking at following the departure of Dominic Solanke to Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend. At this stage, Nketiah is on a list of potential options.
Ornstein adds that Ligue 1 club Marseille had also been pursuing Nketiah before they shifted their focus to Elye Wahi of Lens.
The Athletic are far from the only outlet reporting Bournemouth’s interest in Nketiah.
Simon Collings writes for The Standard that Nketiah joins Porto striker Evanilson in attracting interest from the Cherries, with Crystal Palace also potentially an option for the Arsenal striker later in the window.
Fabrizio Romano writes that Bournemouth have added Nketiah to their list and initial talks have taken place after Porto rejected a bid for Evanilson.
And Sam Dean of The Telegraph confirms that Bournemouth are exploring the move for Nketiah, though he adds that it remains to be seen whether they formalise their interest.
Reports last week suggested Arsenal were ready to sanction Nketiah’s departure to Marseille on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy in the region of €30m.
But Marseille opted to sign Wahi instead, with various outlets confirming that the decision brought their pursuit of Nketiah to an end.
Nketiah made 37 appearances for Arsenal last season, though just 13 of those were starts. The striker has featured for the Gunners regularly in pre-season, with just days to go until the start of the new Premier League campaign.
