Arsenal loanee Marquinhos has been out of action for Fluminense through injury, though he should be back available imminently.

Arsenal’s Marquinhos has been a regular for Fluminense when fit, but he’s missed the first couple of games of August with an injury.

Globo Esporte initially reported that after going off with pain in his right leg, further tests revealed an injury to the winger’s thigh.

At the time, GE didn’t have a timeframe for the injury, but he’s missed the last four games in all competitions, and he’s reportedly set to miss the next as well.

The good news is that Explosao Tricolor have relayed an update from Fluminense that Marquinhos is now transitioning to group work. It sounds like it shouldn’t be too long before he’s back in action again.

Marquinhos has played 24 games for Fluminense so far, scoring a couple of goals and providing a couple of assists.

The 21-year-old has split his time between right-wing and right-back, though he appears to be preferred on the wing when Fluminense’s first-choice right-back options are fit.

Fluminense have a purchase option in their loan deal for Marquinhos, and Arsenal have a 50% sell-on clause in the deal should it go through. The incentive from all sides is for Marquinhos to have a successful year with the club.

The loan will end in January 2025, with Brazil’s football schedule operating on a calendar-year basis, so Marquinhos has a few months remaining of his initial spell.
