Arsenal’s hopes of cashing in on Reiss Nelson have taken another blow, with Leicester City reportedly feeling that he’s too expensive for them.
Arsenal are reportedly open to the sale of Reiss Nelson this summer, and Premier League clubs Leicester City and West Ham United have both been credited with an interest in him.
Yet it’s looking increasingly likely that neither are serious options for a summer transfer.
Rob Tanner reports for The Athletic that whilst Leicester did enquire about Nelson, it quickly became apparent that the winger would be beyond their budget. It seems the club are now looking elsewhere.
Though there’s been no final word on West Ham’s interest, the signs suggest they’re likely to pull out of the race too.
West Ham insider The West Ham Way had claimed that the player is too expensive for the Hammers right now, and the club went on to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United.
With Summerville joining, it’s not clear whether West Ham are still in the market for a player of Nelson’s profile.
David Ornstein initially reported that the Gunners were looking for a fee of around £20m including add-ons to sell Nelson this summer.
Nelson still has a deal with Arsenal to 2027, with an option to extend to 2028, so there’s no pressure on Arsenal to sell.
The 24-year-old played 639 minutes for the Arsenal first team in 2023/24.
