Hubert Graczyk could be set to join Manchester United this summer following his departure from Arsenal at the end of his contract.
Piotr Kozminski reports for Polish outlet WP SportoweFakty that Hubert Graczyk may soon become Manchester United’s new goalkeeper, having departed Arsenal this summer.
Kozminski writes that the move is now “very likely”, and Graczyk would become United’s fourth-choice goalkeeper.
United have Andre Onana as their first choice, with Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton as back-ups. If Graczyk becomes their fourth-choice senior goalkeeper, he’d presumably be their first-choice u21 keeper.
That fact alone would make the Manchester United move a useful one for Graczyk, as he wasn’t getting any minutes at Arsenal.
Following a month-long loan to Slough Town at the start of 2023/24, Graczyk returned in late August, but he only made the u21 squad five times in the remainder of the season and didn’t play a single game for the Gunners.
It was a surprising turn of events, with Graczyk having played 24 games for the Arsenal u21s in 2022/23.
Previously Mehmet Ali’s first choice, Graczyk ended up watching on all season as fellow youth goalkeepers Ovie Ejeheri, Karl Hein, Brian Okonkwo, James Hillson, and Alexei Rojas mopped up all the minutes.
It was certainly no shock when Graczyk’s departure was confirmed earlier this summer, with the player out of contract. But it looks like he won’t be a free agent for long.
