Mikel Arteta met with the press ahead of Arsenal‘s 24/25 Premier League season opener against Wolves on Saturday at the Emirates and gave the latest upate on injured players.

Before the game, Arsenal fans knew that the squad would be without Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) and Kieran Tierney (hamstring), but would Jurrien Timber be fit?

Earlier in the week, Arteta had said about the Japanese defender, “Yeah, I think it will take weeks on that one, unfortunately. He’s going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it’s going to take a few weeks.”

At the press conference, he confirmed this as well as Tierney’s absence, saying they would be “a few weeks behind”.

Jurrien Timber, however, has recovered from the slight foot problem he has been suffering with. “Yeah, he will be in the squad tomorrow,” Arteta told reporters.

“Obviously, he had a really tough period, but he used it in a great way, I think. We still managed to get a lot of things done and improve in many areas that instead of playing he found really, really helpful. Now he’s ready to play and he will have a chance.”

There is still a doubt hanging over Fabio Vieira, who missed out against Lyon with a slight hip issue.

“Fabio Vieira we have to check him now after training how he is, but he looked better today,” Arteta said.
