If Arsenal do a late transfer deal, it’s likely to be for a wide player, with various options reportedly on the table at this stage.

John Cross reports for the Mirror that despite Arsenal’s previous interest in signing a striker, they no longer see that position as essential for a transfer.

Instead, if the Gunners do a late deal, Cross writes that it’s likely to be a wide player. He highlights the noise around Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Raphinha, and Federico Chiesa, suggesting a loan with an option to buy could be a possibility.

James McNicholas reports for The Athletic that Arsenal are open to improving their attacking options, though he adds that an arrival may depend on buyers being found for Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson.

That’s not impossible to imagine, with Nottingham Forest in talks to sign Nketiah and Leicester City retaining an interest in Nelson.

But neither deal has happened yet, and there are no guarantees, particularly at Arsenal’s asking prices for the two players.

Though Arsenal aren’t close to signing a winger at this stage, perhaps Raphinha is the most likely option.

The Gunners were very interested in Raphinha before he joined Barcelona, and his current club appear open to a sale, particularly in light of their latest move for Rafael Leao.

With 10 days left in the summer window, the transfer dominoes really need to start falling soon.
