Arsenal are reportedly advancing in talks with Chelsea to sign Raheem Sterling on a year-long loan deal, according to David Ornstein and Sky Sports.

This potential move could see Sterling make a significant switch across London, reuniting with Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium.

The possibility of Sterling joining Arsenal first emerged on Thursday, with multiple sources, including Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail and James Olley of ESPN, confirming that Arsenal had been offered the chance to sign the versatile forward.

However, there was initial uncertainty about whether Arsenal would seriously pursue the deal.

Sterling made 43 appearances for Chelsea during the 2023/24 season, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists.

His ability to play in multiple positions across the front line makes him an attractive option for Arsenal, who are looking to add depth and versatility to their attacking options.

With his experience at both Liverpool and Manchester City, Sterling would bring a wealth of Premier League experience to the Gunners and a loan deal would allow Arsenal to target more preferred options in the next two transfer windows.

In his report, Ornstein noted, “The proposition is said to be hugely attractive to the ex-Liverpool and Manchester City attacker.”

This reflects Sterling’s apparent interest in making the move to North London, particularly as it would reunite him with Mikel Arteta. The pair previously worked together during their time at Manchester City, where Arteta served as an assistant coach under Pep Guardiola.

Their strong working relationship could be a key factor in Sterling’s potential decision to join Arsenal.

Switching to the Emirates Stadium would not only offer Sterling a fresh start after a challenging season at Chelsea but also the chance to work under a manager he knows and respects. Arteta’s influence on Sterling’s development during their time together at City is well-documented, and a reunion could reignite the form that made Sterling one of the most feared attackers in the Premier League.
