Leroy Sane isn’t expected to leave Bayern Munich this summer but Arsenal are monitoring his contract situation closely just in case.
Kerry Hau of Sky Sports Germany reports that Leroy Sane is currently still expected to remain with Bayern Munich this summer and sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring in 2025.
The player is “comfortable in the city” and in the team, and he “wants to stay”.
But if Sane and Bayern can’t reach an agreement, Hau adds that Arsenal could then “become an option”. The Gunners are reportedly “monitoring the situation”, and the player has a” very good relationship” with Mikel Arteta.
Football insider Team News and Ticks reports on Patreon that though Arsenal do have an interest in Sane, the most recent update is that a move appears to be off because Bayern couldn’t secure their own targets.
Given Sane is happy where he is and talks with Bayern are still ongoing, it certainly seems likely the winger will end up extending his contract to stay in Germany.
But Bayern won’t want to lose the 28-year-old for free next summer. If they can’t agree a deal, they’ll probably look to cash in, and Arsenal are evidently positioning themselves for that eventuality.
Sane scored 10 goals and assisted 13 for Bayern last season. Arsenal appear to be in the market for a winger if a good option is available, with links to Nico Williams earlier in the summer.
For the time being, none of Arsenal’s preferred targets appear to be available to the Gunners this summer.
