Arsenal‘s defender Jakub Kiwior is still attracting the attention of Inter Milan, who have started talks regarding a move for the 23-year-old Polish international.
Inter Milan are actively seeking to strengthen their defensive options and identified two distinct profiles for potential signings.
While the Nerazzurri initially considered experienced free agents like Mario Hermoso, they have shifted their focus towards promising young talents with high resale potential. This shift has led them to express interest in Kiwior, who joined Arsenal from Spezia in January for a reported fee of €20 million and is currently valued at €30m.
Despite the early stages of negotiations, Inter Milan are making their intentions clear, particularly given Kiwior’s limited playing time at Arsenal. According to reports from Sportitalia, Kiwior’s representatives have contacted Arsenal, proposing a loan deal with an option to buy that could become mandatory under certain conditions.
However, Arsenal has shown reluctance to entertain such a proposal at this stage.
Kiwior, who primarily operates as a centre-back but can also play as a left-back, has had a relatively short but eventful career. He made his professional debut with FK Železiarne Podbrezová in 2019 before moving to MŠK Žilina later that year. In 2021, he joined Serie A side Spezia, where he quickly established himself as a key player.
His performances caught the eye of Arsenal, who secured his services in January 2023.
Despite making his Arsenal debut in March 2023, Kiwior has struggled to secure a regular starting spot in the team. He has made sporadic appearances in the Premier League and Europa League, often filling in for injured players. With limited opportunities at Arsenal, a move to Inter Milan could provide Kiwior with the chance to gain valuable playing time and further his development.
As negotiations continue, Arsenal will need to carefully consider Inter Milan’s proposal. While Kiwior’s potential is undeniable, his lack of experience at the highest level could be a concern. Arsenal will need to weigh the benefits of keeping Kiwior as a squad player against the potential financial gains of a transfer.
