Christopher Michel reports for Fussball News that Manchester United are still interested in Rosenborg’s Sverre Nypan, and the player is keen on the move.

Yet Arsenal are also now planning to enter the race and hold concrete talks for the 17-year-old.

Given Nypan’s age, neither Arsenal nor Manchester United can sign him now. They’ll have to wait until he turns 18 in December. As a result, Michel reports that Arsenal’s hierarchy are hoping to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window.

Nypan has played 24 games for Rosenborg this season, with the Norwegian first tier kicking off in April. He’s scored five goals and assisted nine in those appearances, including a hat-trick against Lillestrom last week.

The youngster is also a Norway u19 international, playing seven times and racking up one goal and two assists with the team.

Perhaps Arsenal could have an advantage through Norwegian captain Martin Odegaard, pushing Nypan to pick the Gunners over his alternatives.

In the meantime, Nypan will continue to feature for Rosenborg, with their season coming to its conclusion in early December.
