Arsenal have received a major boost in their pursuit of Ademola Lookman, with PSG reportedly unwilling to meet Atalanta’s asking price, according to Sky’s transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.

The Nigeria international is keen to join the French giants, but the deal has hit a significant roadblock due to a disagreement over the transfer fee.

This development offers an opportunity for Arsenal to potentially swoop in for the forward as the transfer window nears its close.

Despite Lookman’s preference for a move to Paris, talks between the clubs have stalled, creating a chance for other suitors, including Arsenal, to make a move.

The Gunners are reportedly considering a late move for Lookman, who is valued at around £51m.

The 26-year-old winger has already been left out of Atalanta’s squad for their last two Serie A fixtures, fuelling speculation about his future.

What makes this pursuit particularly interesting for Arsenal is Lookman’s connection to the same agency that represents Kai Havertz, which could play a role in negotiations.

Lookman joined Atalanta in 2022 from RB Leipzig after loan spells at Fulham and Leicester City, and his impact in Italy has been significant.

He has scored 24 goals in 62 appearances, including a hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, which secured Atalanta’s first-ever European trophy.

The uncertainty surrounding his future has been further highlighted by his omission from Atalanta’s matchday squads, with manager Gian Piero Gasperini confirming that Lookman has been training individually.

While Gasperini remains open to keeping Lookman, the club’s decision to leave him out signals that a transfer is likely before the window closes.

For Arsenal, Lookman offers versatility and Premier League experience, making him an attractive option to strengthen their attack.

Lookman’s ability to play across the front line could fit well within Mikel Arteta’s system, providing both pace and creativity and The Gunners have been monitoring the situation closely but are yet to submit a formal bid.

As Atalanta navigate the final days of the transfer window, their reluctance to reintegrate Lookman could be a sign that they are open to offers.

However, they are not in a rush to sell unless a substantial bid is made. Arsenal’s interest is genuine, but the North London club must decide whether to act quickly as other clubs remain in the background.

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Lookman’s future hangs in the balance. For Arsenal, this unexpected boost could be an opportunity to add a proven attacker to their ranks as they aim for success on multiple fronts this season.
