Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka shared a nice moment after England’s Euro 2024 victory over Switzerland on Saturday, and Saka praised his former teammate’s humility afterwards.
Former Arsenal teammates Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka faced off against each other in Saturday’s Euro 2024 quarter-final, with England taking on Switzerland.
Saka ended up coming out on top, scoring an excellent goal during the match and netting again in the penalty shootout.
But Xhaka faced his elimination with grace, and the players were spotted embracing after the game.

Speaking about Xhaka after the game, Saka pointed out that the midfielder has had plenty of success already this season, before praising the 31-year-old’s humility.
“Granit has won enough trophies this season!” Saka joked. “I think he’s an amazing player, an amazing person – the humility he showed after the game to come and shake our hands says it all.
“I’m full of respect and admiration for him and Switzerland – they really gave us a game tonight.”
Xhaka won the German league and cup double with Bayer Leverkusen in 2023/24, remaining unbeaten in domestic competition and only losing the Europa League final with his new club.
With Switzerland now out of Euro 2024, Xhaka will begin his summer holidays.
Assuming he doesn’t get more than four weeks – with three weeks being standard for professional footballers – he will be back in training with Bayer Leverkusen in time for their friendly against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on August 7th.
