Aaron Ramsdale gave a classy response to a question about his backup role for England at Euro 2024, ahead of Sunday’s final against Spain.

England are set to play in the Euro 2024 final against Spain on Sunday night, and one thing the two countries are likely to have in common is an Arsenal goalkeeper on the bench.
Both Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya appear to be the second-choice options for their countries, but whilst Raya did feature and keep a clean sheet against Albania in the group stage, Ramsdale is yet to play a minute at the tournament.
Barring a late injury to Jordan Pickford, you’d think that’s unlikely to change in Sunday’s final. Yet Ramsdale gave a gracious answer to a question about his backup role ahead of the game.

“Out of a population in England of 60 million or whatever it is, I’m living all of their dreams,” Ramsdale began.
“And then there is one man living my dream on the pitch, and that one person is doing a hell of a job.
“I’ve got the greatest honour, the greatest badge on my chest. If I play a minute or no minutes, it will be the pinnacle for me.”

Arsenal are likely to have two players in the starting lineups for Sunday’s final, with Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka continuing to prove themselves as two of the first names on Gareth Southgate’s teamsheet at the 2024 tournament.
It would be a shock to see either player dropping out of the team for this final game.
Whatever happens, at least one Arsenal player will be getting their hands on the European Championship trophy by the end of Sunday night.
