Lyon are interested in Arsenal’s Katie McCabe, making contact to express their interest, but the Gunners insist she’s not for sale.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Arsenal’s Katie McCabe is a firm target for Lyon this season, with the club making contact to express their interest and preparing to submit a formal bid if there’s any chance of doing business.
Arsenal have told Lyon that McCabe is not for sale, and they’re planning for the future with her, but Lyon’s interest remains.
McCabe only recently extended her contract with Arsenal, signing a new deal in the early stages of the 2023/24 campaign. Though the length of the deal wasn’t specified at the time, it’s clear the Gunners wanted to keep her around.
The 28-year-old has made well over 200 appearances for Arsenal, hitting that milestone in November, and she’s a popular member of the squad inside and outside of the club.
It’s difficult to see Arsenal’s stance on McCabe changing as the summer goes on, but Lyon are evidently ready and waiting if it does.
“I think we’ve got a fantastic squad of players, and I think we’ve got a range of attributes within the squad that can beat any team on any given day,” McCabe told Daily Cannon earlier this year.
“That’s the confidence I have in my team and my club.
“As a player, it’s so special to call the Emirates our home and walk out each week in front of so many people coming to support us.”
