Thanks to Euro 2024 and Copa America, Arsenal’s squad were always set to have a bit of a staggered start to pre-season.

Though many players have been in training for a couple of weeks now, a few players linked up with Mikel Arteta and the squad just before the trip to the United States. A week later, three more have rejoined training.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz all reached the quarter-finals of their respective international tournaments, exiting the competition on July 5th-7th.

Having had three weeks off, the trio linked up with the Arsenal squad in Los Angeles on Friday and immediately rejoined training.

Arsenal are set to face Manchester United in a friendly on Saturday night (or Sunday morning at 01:00 BST UK time), and the returning trio will now be available to play a part in that match.

You wouldn’t expect any of them to play a major role in the first friendly after their returns to training, with only a session or two under their belts so far.

But it’s encouraging to have them all back with the majority of pre-season still to play.

After Saturday’s friendly against Manchester United, Arsenal still have games against Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, and Olympique Lyonnais before the competitive season eventually gets underway on August 17th.
