Charles Watts reports for the Daily Briefing that Arsenal are still working hard to try and keep Chido Martin Obi in north London, despite Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund pushing to try and lure him away.

Arsenal reportedly remain in talks with Martin Obi’s camp, and Watts suggests no decision has yet been made on his future.

The Gunners have made their desires to keep the striker clear during recent talks, and a professional contract is on the table for him as soon as he turns 17.

Despite the current uncertainty, Watts concludes that Arsenal are hoping the groundwork they’ve done over the last few months will be successful.

Arsenal recently made an improved offer to Martin Obi, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Mikel Arteta was pushing for the club to keep the young striker.

Bayern and Dortmund have been drawn into the race by the fact the striker would be available for no more than a €400,000 training compensation fee this summer.

Arsenal were unable to sign the striker up to a new contract until now due to his age, which has allowed the vultures to start circling.

The Gunners are hoping to get Martin Obi to agree to a scholarship contract now, converting that into a professional deal when he turns 17 later this year.

Martin Obi finished as the u18 Premier League’s top scorer in 2023/24 with 32 goals, 11 ahead of his nearest competitor in the division.
