Arsenal and Sligo Rovers have confirmed that Jack Henry-Francis has moved on loan to the Irish Premier Division club for the remainder of their season.

The Irish league operates on a calendar-year basis, so Henry-Francis’ loan spell will conclude in November.

The move is the midfielder’s first spell in senior football, and a chance to test himself outside of the youth bubble.

Henry-Francis also qualifies for the Republic of Ireland national team, and he’s represented the country at u19 and u21 levels in the past.

“I’m looking to get some exposure to first-team football really and when I get the chance, I want to put in some really good performances,” Henry-Francis said of the move.

“I think I can do that here. I’ve spoken a lot to John and about his plans for me and the squad for the rest of the year and it’s been very exciting. I know a fair bit about the league and have watched a fair bit of it since I knew I’d be moving over.

“There seems to be a lot of togetherness in the team and a lot of fight along with some really good technical players.”

Unlike most loans at this time of year, Henry-Francis is likely to be straight into the competitive action with Sligo Rovers, as they play in the FAI Cup second round against Cobh Wanderers on Sunday, July 21st.

Before that, the team have a friendly against Everton on Friday, July 19th.

20-year-old Henry-Francis made 18 appearances for the Arsenal u21s last season, scoring four goals and assisting three from his deep midfield role.
