Arsenal‘s pursuit of Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres is holding steady, with the Gunners reportedly “insisting” on securing his signature despite Sporting CP‘s unwavering €100 million valuation.

Gyokeres, who recently returned from a knee surgery and scored a hat-trick in a friendly match against Farense, has proven his worth as a prolific goalscorer, netting 43 goals and providing 14 assists in 50 games last season. His impressive performance has attracted attention from several top European clubs, including Barcelona.

However, Sporting CP is determined to hold onto their star striker and has made it clear that Gyokeres will only leave if his €100 million release clause is met. This stance poses a significant challenge for Arsenal, who are reportedly unwilling to match such a high price.

Despite the financial hurdle, Arsenal’s interest in Gyokeres remains strong according to a report from O Jogo in Portugal. Gyokeres’ proven goalscoring ability and physical presence make him an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta‘s system.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s interest in Gyokeres is also growing, but their financial situation might hinder their ability to compete with Arsenal’s offer. The Catalan giants are currently prioritising other targets and may not be able to meet Sporting CP’s demands.

While Arsenal’s persistence is evident, Sporting CP’s firm stance on their valuation could make negotiations difficult. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will meet the €100 million price tag or explore alternative options.
