Arsenal have enquired about Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye, with his current club hoping to raise £17m or more from his sale.
Simon Jones reports for the Daily Mail that Arsenal have asked about Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye ahead of the summer transfer window.
Barcelona rate Faye highly and believe he has a future at the club, but they also need to raise money, and they feel his sale could raise £17m or more.
The 19-year-old can play at left-back or centre-back, which would seemingly make him a good fit for an Arsenal side that often tasks one defender with playing a mix of those two roles.
Arsenal aren’t the only club in the mix, with the Mail also highlighting that Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, and Manchester United all keeping tabs on the player.
But the Gunners are watching closely, and they’ll reportedly scout him again during the upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Senegal.
Faye has already made his senior debut for his country, scoring in a 3-0 win over Gabon in March. Senegal will next face DR Congo on Thursday, June 6th and Mauritania on Sunday, June 9th.
At club level, the defender is yet to make his first appearance for the Barcelona first team.
Instead, he played 33 times for their B team in 2023/24, scoring four goals and helping them to a third-place finish in the Spanish third tier.
