Belgium have called up Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard to their provisional Euro 2024 squad, but Albert Sambi Lokonga has been left out.

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard has been included in Belgium’s provisional squad for Euro 2024, with Domenico Tedesco confirming his call-ups on Tuesday morning.

Trossard has been a regular in the Belgium squad in recent years, and he’s been in very strong form with Arsenal, so it was no real surprise to see him involved.

The news wasn’t so positive for Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, with the 24-year-old missing out.

Again, that wasn’t a shock, with Lokonga only making one substitute appearance for Belgium in his career, and not receiving a call-up since March 2022.

Yet the frustration will be that Belgium opted to only call up 25 players for the Euros, despite having the option to take 26.

It’s likely Lokonga wouldn’t have been the 26th player anyway, but now he knows they’d rather leave the spot empty than take him.

The Poland squad is still to be announced, so Jakub Kiwior is still waiting on confirmation of his involvement. But the rest of the Arsenal squad now know whether or not they’ll be at the European Championships this summer.
