Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Aaron Ramsdale and planning a summer move for him, but the player has played down some of the speculation on social media.

Luke Edwards reports for The Telegraph that Newcastle United are interested in Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale this summer, and they’re planning a move for him in the upcoming transfer window.

Edwards adds that a deal hasn’t been agreed, but Newcastle are hopeful it will be.

Newcastle are reportedly willing to pay around £15m for Ramsdale, offering him a five-year deal. The Telegraph suggest that transfer talks have progressed and Arsenal are happy to let the goalkeeper leave if they can agree on a fee.

That report follows an earlier claim from Sky Sports’ James Green, who told the Highbury Squad YouTube channel that Ramsdale had agreed to join Newcastle, claiming the deal is ‘done’.

But Ramsdale appeared to rubbish those suggestions on Twitter, writing: “News to me”

It’s worth mentioning that Ramsdale’s tweet was published prior to the article in The Telegraph, so it clearly wasn’t a response to that report of Newcastle’s interest.

Instead, it seems his tweet was directed at the claim that he’d already agreed to make the move.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Arsenal are “100%” likely to bring in a new backup goalkeeper this summer, suggesting Ramsdale is indeed on the way out.

The 26-year-old has made 11 appearances this season, losing his starting spot to on-loan David Raya. Raya is set to join permanently from Brentford in the summer.
