Gabriel Jesus is aware that Arsenal are considering selling him this summer, according to reports, though Mikel Arteta denies the claims.

James McNicholas reported for The Athletic earlier this week that Gabriel Jesus’ future at Arsenal is not guaranteed, and the club would be willing to listen to an offer for him in the summer transfer window.

McNicholas added that there’s a chance Jesus stays, and Mikel Arteta wouldn’t be disappointed to keep him.

But with the club focusing on a new forward signing, they’re open to offers for the likes of Jesus and Eddie Nketiah to raise funds.

Over in Brazil, journalist Jorge Nicola has provided an update on his YouTube channel.

Nicola reports (via Sport Witness) that he’s heard from people close to Jesus that it’s true Arsenal are considering his exit, meaning the player himself is definitely aware of the situation.

Nicola was one of the first to report on Arsenal’s move to sign Jesus in the first place, so it’s worth noting what he has to say now.

Yet Arteta has denied the claims, suggesting in his press conference on Friday that Arsenal have no intention to sell the striker this summer.

The implication in McNicholas’ piece for The Athletic is that Jesus’ reliability is the main issue for Arsenal at the moment, both in terms of fitness and finishing.

On the fitness front, Jesus himself admitted this week that his injuries have affected him this season.

“Being injured is hard,” Jesus said. “Last season I think I played my best six months before the World Cup, when I got my knee injury, and everyone knows what happened after.

“This season has been tough – I missed pre-season, had surgery again and then had a couple more injuries.

“I’m doing my best to help the team, and hoping to stay fit so I can do a full pre-season this summer. Then it’s a different story.”

It sounds as though the striker is still planning to be at Arsenal this summer, but there’s clearly no guarantee right now.
