Arsenal is reportedly accelerating its efforts to secure the signing of Fenerbahçe left-back Ferdi Kadıoğlu.
According to reports in the Turkish media, the Gunners are actively engaged in negotiations with the player’s representatives and are prepared to meet Fenerbahçe‘s asking price.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri initially revealed Arsenal‘s interest in Kadıoğlu, but noted that official talks with Fenerbahçe had not yet commenced. However, Turkish outlet Türkiye has since reported that Arsenal is “pushing to finalise” a deal and is “at the negotiating table” with the player.
Last month, it was reported that Arsenal would be making a bid after the player impressed their scouts.
Fenerbahçe values the 24-year-old Turkish international at €25m, a figure well within Arsenal‘s budget. However, another Turkish publication, Takvim, suggests the Turkish club might be seeking a higher fee of €30m. Takvim also claims that an Arsenal official will travel to Turkey in June to initiate official contact with Fenerbahçe.
Kadıoğlu is reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, adding further impetus to the potential transfer. However, Arsenal faces competition from Borussia Dortmund, who are also said to be interested in the player.
The defender’s current market value is estimated at €20m, and industry insiders believe a deal could be struck around that figure. However, Fenerbahçe‘s reported higher asking price could be a negotiating tactic to maximise their return on their prized asset.
