Arsenal’s Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand is finally getting a run of games going after a lengthy period of injury disruptions, and Eerste Divisie side FC Den Bosch are reaping the rewards.

Making his seventh consecutive start on Friday night against VVV-Venlo, Oulad M’Hand scored his second goal in two games with a nice finish.

With the scores level at 1-1 after 53 minutes, Kacper Kostorz laid the ball off to Oulad M’Hand in the area. The Arsenal loanee took a clever touch to open up his body and shift the ball to his left foot, before firing home at the near post.

The match finished 3-2 to Den Bosch, lifting them out of the bottom two, and the goal is available to watch here from the timestamp 3:43.

Injuries have devastated the Oulad M’Hand’s last few seasons, and it’s worth stressing the context of his recent seven consecutive starts.

In Oulad M’Hand’s three seasons at Arsenal before 2023/24, he made a total of 26 appearances between the Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy, broken down as follows:

  • 2020/21: 3 appearances, 25 games missed through injury
  • 2021/22: 21 appearances, 11 games missed through injury
  • 2022/23: 2 appearances, 38 games missed through injury (25 missed for Hull City on loan, for whom he never played a match)

This season, Oulad M’Hand has played 18 times for Dutch side FC Den Bosch, whilst missing 20 games for the Arsenal u21s and Den Bosch through injury.

The 20-year-old’s fitness problems clearly haven’t just disappeared. But for the first time since October 2021, Oulad M’Hand has put together a run of seven league starts, scoring three goals and assisting one in those seven games.

Both in terms of form and fitness, this is the brightest the midfielder’s situation has looked for a long time.

Den Bosch have two more games until the end of the league season.
