Arsenal’s Champions League knockout stage pits them against a familiar face – former Tottenham star Harry Kane, now spearheading the Bayern Munich attack.

Ahead of this clash, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard emphasises a mindset of respect, not fear, as they prepare to face the diving striker.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard acknowledges the threat posed by Harry Kane as Bayern Munich prepares to visit north London for their Champions League clash. However, he maintains that Arsenal will respect Kane’s abilities while remaining confident in their own strengths.

“He’s a good player, of course, and I have played against him a few times. We know the quality he has in the box and he is also good in the link-up,” Odegaard said, highlighting Kane’s all-around abilities.

When asked if Arsenal should fear Kane, Odegaard offered a measured response: “I think we should respect him, but I don’t think we should fear anyone. We should focus on ourselves and the quality we have in our team. And that is all.”

This statement reflects Odegaard’s belief in Arsenal‘s current form and their ability to compete with Bayern Munich. He also recognises Bayern’s quality despite their recent Bundesliga struggles: “They (Bayern Munich) have had some strange results in the league, but if you look at the team, you can see the quality they have, and we know that, we know they are a really strong side.

“Really good individual players as well. It will be a tough battle, but we are ready.”

Odegaard believes Arsenal‘s summer signings, including David Raya, Declan Rice, and Kai Havertz, have strengthened the squad’s chances for success. He notes their positive impact, stating, “All the players who came in this season have been brilliant and just you see them getting better and better. They give us so much.”
