Martin Odegaard and Jorginho have urged the team to turn their focus back to winning the Premier League, following Wednesday’s Champions League elimination.

It certainly hasn’t been a good week for Arsenal fans, with a damaging Premier League defeat to Aston Villa followed by a narrow Champions League exit to Bayern Munich.

Arsenal’s trophy chances for 2023/24 now rely entirely on the Premier League, but the good news is that the Gunners aren’t out of the race yet.

Club captain Martin Odegaard has urged the team to focus on what they still have to play for.

“We’re in this together,” Odegaard said on Wednesday night. “We win and lose together and we all have an important role now to help each other and lift each other up.

“We have something really nice to play for, so we have to move on and look at that.”

With just two points to league leaders Manchester City, Arsenal could reclaim top spot at the weekend with a win over Wolves.

The Gunners would only need Pep Guardiola’s side to drop points once to have the title back in their own hands. Jorginho agrees with Odegaard that Arsenal have no time to let their heads drop now.

“You need to not feel sorry for yourself, look at the good things that we’ve done, be proud of it, learn from the mistakes and experience,” Jorginho told TNT Sports (via VipArsenal).

“We need to be ready. We need to put our heads up, because there is still a lot to play for.”

Manchester City are the overwhelming favourites to win the Premier League again, particularly in the wake of their own Champions League exit on Wednesday.

But Arsenal need to make sure they’re there to capitalise if City even slip up once.
