Arsenal are among the sides monitoring Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo, with the club potentially needing to sell players to ease their financial concerns.
Sami Mokbel reports for the Daily Mail that Arsenal have joined Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle United among the Premier League sides monitoring Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo ahead of the summer transfer window.
Forest were deduced four points by the Premier League after breaching profit and sustainability rules, and they’re now facing having to sell players at the end of the season to ease their financial situation.
Murillo is reportedly among those who appears likely to leave this summer as a result.
Mokbel points out that though Murillo was signed by Forest for around £15m, the club are hoping to make a significant profit on that investment this summer.
The defender isn’t the only player Forest could sell, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi also looking like valuable assets who would bring in significant interest.
But Murillo’s sale is certainly on the table, with Arsenal seemingly keeping an eye on the situation.
Arsenal are likely to be in the market for a new defender this summer, despite having a strong back four when everyone is fit.
The Gunners lack back-up options at the same level as their first-choice players, particularly given the injury records of many of the supporting cast.
The Gunners have some flexibility with potential signings, as the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber, and Jakub Kiwior are all capable of playing at full-back or centre-back, depending on where a potential new signing plays.
Signing a centre-back like Murillo and moving one or two of those players out to full-back is certainly an option.
