Highly-rated Danish goalkeeper Lucas Martin has emerged as a transfer target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs after training with both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

The 17-year-old shot-stopper is currently a free agent following his departure from FC Nordsjælland earlier this year. Determined to maintain his form and fitness, Martin has been training with Lyngby Boldklub, but his ambitions clearly extend beyond the Danish club.

According to Danish publication Tipsbladet, Martin’s recent training stints with Arsenal and PSG highlight the significant interest surrounding him. With his free agent status, any club can sign him without a transfer fee, presenting a tempting proposition for top European teams.

The report suggests that Martin hasn’t made a decision on his future yet, with both Arsenal and PSG potentially vying for his signature. The Danish national team, however, is keen for him to choose a club soon.

Denmark U18 manager Lasse Stensgaard expressed his concerns about Martin’s current situation. While acknowledging the limitations of being without a club, Stensgaard also emphasised Martin’s impressive qualities.

“He’s a real winner and he will do everything he can to win,” Stensgaard said. “He trains insanely well and gives it his all on the pitch… He sets a standard that we are here because we have to win and not just play the game.”

Stensgaard further highlighted Martin’s development as a goalkeeper, praising his shot-stopping abilities alongside his strong footwork.

With interest from Arsenal and PSG, Martin’s decision could propel him into the spotlight of European football. The coming weeks are likely to be decisive as Martin weighs his options and chooses the club that best suits his development and ambitions.
